EverUp Micro-Credential: Data Analytics

College: Baruch College

Major: B.S. Computer Information Systems

This summer, Matthew Rivera will intern at the forefront of healthcare and technology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a Data Analyst intern, he will apply skills from the Data Analytics EverUp Micro-Credential and his passion for using technology to help companies solve problems.

“I’m hoping to get a practical understanding of how Data Analytics will work within MSK,” he said. “Nothing beats getting a true, practical experience while at the job.”

Matthew’s path to an internship at MSK started when he enrolled in the Data Analytics Micro-Credential to expand his portfolio and computer programming knowledge. The micro-credential equipped him with in-demand skills and allowed him to create projects to showcase on Github.

Matthew then attended MSK’s info session for micro-credential completers and applied for an internship, with his micro-credential providing a competitive boost.

“The micro-credential enhanced my application,” said Matthew. “It gave me something to refer to and a leg up in the whole recruitment process.”

Today, Matthew is excited to network and learn about Data Analytics in a healthcare setting.

“I’ve known about MSK and that this would be a good internship to gain a better understanding of data analyst skills,” he said.
